Have you checked your local library to see if they have the Amazon books to loan through Overdrive? I just found out recently that if you borrow a book that way from a library, Amazon treats it like a purchase and so you become eligible to get the audiobook at the Whispersync price. I've already saved several dollars.

Another thing that I'm working on is getting library cards from other nearby libraries which have reciprocal agreements with my local library (in these cases, at least, the cards are free). Other libraries choose to purchase particular books through Overdrive that my local library doesn't, so I get to check out those, too, and buy the Whispersync editions of them also if I choose to do so.
