Good news (sort of). As a test, I just tried to transfer a bunch of books to my Galaxy Note 3. Same failure. So it appears that it is not a 4.4 issue after all. I have transferred thousands of files in the past without seeing this issue.
I just sent you the CC debug log.
I have to leave my house now, but I will send you the Calibre log later.
