Rooting makes no difference at all. Rooting is just giving you access to the system files. It's like setting up a new user in Windows and making them an administrator.

If you've replaced the OS on your tablet, that's a different story. I run Cyanogenmod 10.2.1 on mine and it's not laggy a bit.
