Just what are you trying to accomplish by seeing Series info from the device view? (Calibre has many ways that can be used to get from here -> there . MR readers provide the brain pool of suggestions )
Hmm, but calibre does send that metadata to the metadata.calibre cache for speeding up future ondevice scans.
Series is among the info sent, at least on my Kindle which doesn't support series metadata. It shows up in Book Details (device view).

So maybe those columns should be there. What is the worst that could happen, it will show up blank?
