The online manual at the end of the introductory paragraphs (just before the list of sections) has the sentence

No easy way that I know off. You could peek inside the epub version (by treating it as a zip file) and look at the dates of the contained files, but I think that there are updates most weeks, with the scale of the update depending on what happened development wise during the week. That means that looking inside the epub is not really of use unless you want to determine how old a copy you already have actually is. You should probably just downloaded an updated version periodically.
