The stories we have feel about right at the lengths that they've come in. We could open up a larger word count for new stories, perhaps, but 8,000 words is already quite a long short story - particularly in a cross-genre anthology where not everything will be to the reader's taste.

Just that I could see the process going on for many, many months, with no assurance of an end date, and we've committed our stories to it. If we wanted to publish them elsewhere - even as free samples - we wouldn't be able to.

I don't think there's an appetite within the existing 5 authors to contribute more stories - the 8,000 word limit feels about right - so we're relying on other authors coming forward.

Thanks for the positive words. I think the tricky part is that we need some other people to join us. Although we can keep working on what we've got, that will not be enough material.
