Yes - I have a backup of my hard drive. As I previously stated, my problem was that I did not know Calibre had created a totally new library, and that Calibre also filed this new library using a totally new path. Thus I now had two Calibre libraries. I kept following instructions and clicking what I did not know, was the the 'old' library. Thank you everyone for responding.
