I cannot be too exact in my response but will give it a go as, apart from Ripplinger's good advice, no one else seems to be offering help.

The delay while covers show up after loading books is while the T1 is making thumbnails of them all to display in collections, etc. If you hunt down image files such as .jpg (and maybe .png) in the T1 while connected to a PC by USB you will find a folder with a thumbnail image in it for every book. For a few books it does not take long, but it can take quite a while if you load a larger number of books at once.

You do not have to wait while it does this if the book you want to read, for example, is visible, as even with no cover showing, you can open it. I think that you can even turn the T1 off before it has finished and it will just pick the job up again when next turned on, but I have not tested this for more than a few books to see if it delays turning off until finished.

If there is no cover in the book then in my experience the reader shows a blank page on its display of collections, etc. for that book, so I do not know why you are getting the two arrows, it is not something that I have experienced. It is possible that it is due to a problem with the book itself.

For myself, I have not noticed any sorting issues with collections. But as Ripplinger suggests, I use Calibre to load and manage collections on the T1. It may be that if you manage collections while working on the T1 itself, that one has to return to the Home screen before the collection database sort refreshes, but I have not checked this.
