True but if you buy ebooks from Amazon or Amazon.co.uk and give your UK address they will be supplied by Amazon Luxembourg and pay (until the end of 2014) 3 % VAT. The price will be the same for a UK destination but expressed in $US or GBP depending on website.

There are very few paper books that are available from Amazon.com but not Amazon.co.uk (including Amazon Marketplace) I have only occasionally found the price in the US cheaper (including shipping).

For new books always check the price at http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/ (which is post/ shipping inclusive anywhere in the world).
