Nothing in your statement makes me want to run out and replace either my kindle or my S3. I read a lot out and at home and my Kindle touch works perfectly fine for that and I always have calling and messaging nearby has my phone is always in my pocket or next to me. if I want to go online I use my laptop.
For me its the best tool for the job, could I cut a tree down with my Leatherman, probably but why would I want to when I have a saw.
