This is exactly what my template provides.
If the author has no series, then all the books are inside one folder with author name. If there are series, there is exactly one subfolder for each series and the books inside that folder are numbered.

I was hoping you would take time to read comment in the two links that I provided and modify the template to suit your exact needs.
You can go wild and construct any directory and file naming structure using this template language. You can have all books dumped in a single directory, like so:

{authors|| - }{series|| }{series_index:0>3s|| - }{title}
