L’Espresso Group has reached an agreement with iRex Technologies to create the first mobile newspaper on electronic ink.
The agreement is regarding la Repubblica, which, in the next weeks will test a first panel of 300 readers, who will receive the daily and several further updating on a special device called “electronic reader”, by the name of iLiad.
The wireless device provided by iRex is based on an innovative solution of electronic paper on a display, operated through easy manual controls or with a touch pen. The display is 8.1 inch size with 16 levels of grey which make it easily readable in every place and with every light. Features of the newspaper are accurately reproduced by the interface.
To the Espresso Group, which since 2000 has invested in the start-up E-ink, creator of the prototype of the basic technology of the electronic ink, this represents the development of product innovation, which has marked the Group’s strategy over the last years.
