I have installed both Kobo plugins and have configured them according to PeterT (I think) and created a column called My Shelves in Calibre which I can see. |
The most common configuration missed is not setting "Metadata management" to automatic. This is on the "Sending books to devices" page of the calibre preferences.
If you have set this, please run calibre in debug mode. This is done by right clicking on the preferences button and selecting "Restart in debug mode". Then connect the Aura HD, wait for calibre to do its stuff and close calibre. Then post or send me the debug log.

Also, do I have to use Kobo desktop? I do not want to purchase books from Kobo I have heaps of epubs already. How do I delete the Kobo desktop?

You don't need it. Even if you buy books from Kobo, you can download them via WiFi to the device.
