Or use the built in calibre editor, which can also be used standalone as ebook-edit.exe
It handles epubs, with packaging, and has mny powerful options for search and replace, global undo/versioning, spellcheck, export files to other programs, epub validation to check for errors, and a live preview of the results.
It started off as notepad++ on steroids and then got better.
