I don't have a Kindle Fire device so I don't know how helpful this may be...
I have 2 just-plain-android smartphones. On both of them I needed to set up CC to direct MOBI and AZW3 to the 'special' Kindle folder in order to be seen by the Kindle for Android app (CC
Settings - Formats & Folders).
The special Kindle directory path is slightly different on my 2 devices,
/mnt/sdcard/kindle on the Galaxy Note 1 - android 4.0
/storage/emulated/0/kindle on the Galaxy Note 3 - android 4.3
