I thought that I remembered that Raise.com also offered egift cards. I went back to the site to check. On their site Amazon does, Hastings (I had forgotten that they had ebooks until then) does, and iTunes (again, they're under the "Entertainment" heading, not the "Books and Magazines" heading) does. Here is their policy: "eGift cards can be redeemed online only. They are sent to your Raise account within 24 hours."
One hour certainly beats 24 hours, but I wonder if Raise is not saying "24 hours" just to cover themselves in case there is some problem in which it takes an unusually long time to send the egift card and that they usually send the card much more promptly than that. One of these days I'll probably buy one or more to find out. I feel sure that most, if not all, of the other discount gift card sites also have egift cards for at least some of the merchants.
I just wanted to share that little bit of information that I found out for you and others who are following the thread. I don't care whether or not anyone buys egift cards or, if they do, who they buy them from. Like you, my motto is "go with whatever floats your boat."
BTW--this is off topic, but I'll be brief. I noticed that Hastings (
http://www.gohastings.com) has a large number of free ebooks. Most, if not all, however, are probably in the ePub format. I'll post this under the proper thread when I get a chance.
