Yes, I do manual pick and choose updates to, for the same reasons after having long ago run into problems turning out to be due to driver updates.

I do allow the driver updates to install, however, but knowing they have done so would be the first point of call should a problem arise after updating. That said, I have not had such an issue for quite some years now.
