I bought a cover but have now discarded it. Before getting the aura HD I had a sony T3 & never really got on with that cover, either.

cover +
a little extra protection against accidental damage
auto sleep/wake convenience

cover -
adds weight.
having to hold device with its cover bent fully back never feels quite right & symmetric & over time I expect the cover hinge to fail.
the aura HD has a "specially designed" easy to grip back shape , which a cover obscures

I now just have some "egg box" type foam ( left over from a sound proofing/dampening project ) & I place my reader & tablets face down on foam when not in use - so that screen surface is protected, and so that the device is never being dropped onto a hard surface.

having said all that , my cover was only £5 on ebay- at that price you can afford to just try one anyway!
