Sorry, don't know enough about hacking to help you choose, other than the fact that the Nook ST is generally the top recommendation if you want to hack your ereader. You could perhaps post a query in that Kobo Developers forum about the specific apps you are interested in running? The forum is a little more active than this (possibly because the hackable Nook's are getting a little old now and Kobo are selling more and more ereaders).
