You can't have system that is more "rooted" than this.
The first version of terminal emulator was developed in the early days during programming competition organized AND sponsored by the PocketBook company. PocketBook also released official SDK.
Can you imagine a more open system?
Mmmm, then, I must not have loooked hard enough, where do I get third party apps ? How do I install them ?
