Fascinating.
I moved my papwerwhite 1st to 5.4.4 (as per Device Info). I did not feel confortable w/o JBPatch and decided to go back.
Then I copy the 5.3.4 to the root, safely remove the device and... The file disappeared!

now way, the bin file disappears quite immediately (the update is always grey, of course).
