what about in dialogue boxes - eg with the conversion or edit metadata - are they OK or equally off kilter.

BR,

My next step. The various sub-windows show up correctly. It's only the odd placement of any drop-down menu. If I have to pick from a picklist, it's moved. Right click system menus move too. As does the drop down menus from the arrow buttons on those main toolbar buttons that have them.

So, a re-download of v1.32, then a re-install. And if that fails, I give 1.31 a try. It's obviously a machine issue rather than a calibre issue. But it's annoying.

One piece of evidence that MIGHT be involved. Over the weekend I did a little pruning using the Duplicates button. I switched from viewing individual cases to see the full list (that way, I could scan for docx/doc pairs and just delete the doc's). Grasping at straws, but it might be a clue if things continue to go south. (One last detail, my usual placement of Calibre is on the second monitor, full screen. That's a 2000x1200 window. The placements of the dropdowns is ballpark pt 300 by pt 48, or so.

Back to the re-install salt mines. Appreciate you thinking about this issue.
