I would say looking at the best-seller lists is probably the worst method of finding books. You might find some good books, but you'll find a lot of just marketing schlock.
I just research and research and research and then research some more. I come up with a theme for books I want to read and then just keep searching. It's not always a success, but reading through the years, through the alphabet and now around the world has made my reading fresher than ever and I'm always finding something crazy good in the obscurist places.
