The short answer is I stumble upon something that interests me.

For me, it's worth reading -- or at least looking it over -- if I'm interested in the subject matter. Often something I read while surfing my favorite Web sites will pique my curiosity. For example, the other day I was reading about the Kennedy assassination which referred to the Mafia which referred to Meyer Lansky which referred to the Mossad, which led me to pick up a book titled "Final Judgment".

I'm always curious about something or other, so I don't have to stumble for very long before I'm on to something.
