I had some weird double-account thing happen one time, where none of my books/devices showed up whenever I logged in. The Amazon rep was able to get rid of the extra account and reset my password to something new on the existing one. Everything was golden after that.
I have no idea if that's at all relevant to your situation, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
