Yeah, you're right, it must be in the custom option, although the standardized phrasing of the choices is a bit strong and confusing: "Entire feature will be unavailable" (permanently, temporarily? - I assume the latter). The thing is with most programs the desktop icon option, along with others, gets its own screen during the install, rather than being behind a "custom install." In the case of the icon, that makes sense because most installs will not be the first.
