I did get all the updates, including today's, and did all the reboots and a couple more. Windows 8.1 is weird about admin rights and so I've "taken ownership" of about everything, although I've never shown any errors with calibre before.
Btw, it would be nice if during the install there was that typical "add icon to desktop" choice box. My calibre icon is renamed and so each install adds a new one. Thanks,
