I can see that I have slightly misled with one of my examples. Instead of German I should have said Germans.
I have therefore given credit for nationalities where this might have made a difference, and adjusted the listed answers.
I have also had, on careful checking, to withdraw my approval of Turkmenistani and Luxembourgeois
So to clarify: I am looking for the word that is for the people of a country, not the word for an individual, and none ending 'ans', 'ish' or 'ese'. (Note that in my examples, if I was looking for the name of an individual from a country I would have had to say Spaniard and Chinaman)
