I haven't delved into it but I had a similar experience that some non cover images displayed full screen (with a previous firmware release; kepub only). From memory: if a page contains
only an image the reader would display it at full screen. Not sure if the image should be placed bewtween divider tags. Maybe a'simple' p tag would suffice. Trial-and-error should give the answer if, full screen images are still supported with more recent firmware releases.
