Question Margins: Setting up for a spine/gutter

Hello!

The epub-->pdf conversion tool works very well with my epub book!

The book's publishing company has advised me that in preparing layout for its printing that it will have a balanced appearance if book-spine settings are observed. They want .75 inch inside margin in a 8.25x10.75 paper size to observe reader friendly layout balance in a hard-copy book.

Calibre's margin settings provide a fixed margin layout. Is there CSS code or another approach to use in Calibre besides getting an expensive pdf software to edit the margins to alternate: say every odd page is .75in (54.2pt) and every even page is .75in (54.2pt)? The other margins I'm using are set to .5in (top, bottom, right or left at 36.2pt--in printer point setting vs. computer point setting for Calibre's pdf output).

This feature might be nice to add for flipping-style epub books too. I saw a program for $99.00 that can set up gutters/spine for epub books. It wouldn't really help me with my Calibre pdf conversion though, I think.

Thanks so much!
