Hi Difflugia, tried it and here is the result. Again, I picked up from where I left off, but was unsure about unmounting etc., so did not do that.

ls -ald update

office@office-desktop:~$ ls -ald update
drwxr-xr-x 2 office office 4096 Mar 21 23:04 update
office@office-desktop:~$ cd update
office@office-desktop:~/update$ zip -r9 ../update-rooted.zip .

zip error: Nothing to do! (try: zip -r9 ../update-rooted.zip . -i .)
office@office-desktop:~/update$ cd ..
office@office-desktop:~$ ls -al update-rooted.zip
ls: cannot access update-rooted.zip: No such file or directory
office@office-desktop:~$

Seeing as this is all good learning for me, would it help if I started from scratch and did it all in one go? Would we see my mistake then? Could I have done something wrong picking up from where I left off in a previous session? How do I search to see where the zip file is located on my system? In the file path /home/office/vox there is a file called update zip if that helps.
Roberto.
