Turns out there's an option to make the 'Library' folder visible. These steps worked for me:

Using Finder to add Kindle content.

1. Find the 'My Kindle Content' directory by opening the Kindle Reader, select preferences, notice the 'Content Folder' heading and the path from your userid to 'My Kindle Content'. You will use Finder to locate the Content Folder. My path is 'jcmillecam/Library/Containers/com.amazon.Kindle/data/Library/Application\ Support/Kindle/My\ Kindle\ Content/'.

2. Open Finder and select your users directory on the FAVORITES panel. Find the 'Library' folder. If it's not visible then right-click on any folder in the directory and choose 'Show View Options'. Select 'Show Library Folder' at the bottom. Close the dialog box.

3. Open the Library folders, go down the folder tree as follows: Library -> Containers -> com.amazon.Kindle -> data -> Library -> Application Support -> Kindle -> My Kindle Content/

4. Find your source documents and copy to this folder. Kindle prefers .mobi file format.

5. Close and open the Kndle application to see your file on the 'downloaded items' list.

Hope that helps - Jim
