Looking at wiki,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Picture_of_Dorian_Gray, there was a version published in 1890 (with some controversy) and later an 1891 version. It looks like the 1891 version was longer (but changed to make it less controversial).
And than, I assume, there is the "Frankel" version.
Being a pragmatist, I have to eliminate the Frankel version: it is still under copyright in the U.S., so it can not possibly be a "classic" yet.
Never mind. I see that the MR copy is the longer version.
