I've bought music downloads from the UK, which I assume would be handled in a similar fashion. All of the dollars/pounds conversion took place in the background. My bank did charge a small currency conversion fee, which appeared separately on my statement. You might want to check with your card issuer to see if they charge a similar fee and what it might be.
