That's odd, the cover shouldn't even exist in the book anymore.

Test: If you use the calibre ebook viewer (on the saved-to-disk book. It should be on the list of programs that can open it), what shows as the cover?

Technical: If you try opening the saved book with Edit Book (a part of calilbre) does the old cover show up in the EPUB resources ("File Browser")?

EDIT: Also, I don't use GBooks, but if anyone who sees this does, what does GBooks do with re-uploaded/deleted books? Does it cache the metadata at all?
