This is a good series, but it's good to keep in mind these are not "typical" romance novels. I like them because of that - I like the emotion in them and the fact that these people have to learn each other (it's not "insta-luv").

I've seen some people complain the books are too slow, especially the first books in that series. But I suspect, based on comments you've made about today's lighter historicals, that you'll like these.
