Having repaired my computer, I now am finishing up the repairs to my TIVO box (which is spread out in pieces all over my desk).

It had a DVD from Netflix in it .... but would not open up to let me take the damned thing out. So, I had to take the DVD burner out of the TIVO and take that apart to get it out.

However, while I was doing that, I ran across a site that sells refurbished TIVO boxes and hard drive upgrade kits (with the TIVO software pre-installed).

So, I called those folks up, and they told me some nifty tricks about how to get DVDs out of the machine when it won't boot (because of bad media in the tray ... it's sort of a Catch-22 ... you can't get the tray to open until it boots, but you can't get it to boot until you open the tray and remove the problem media).

So, I'm going to upgrade the drives in my existing TIVOS. The nice thing is that, when I'm done, I'll have 3600 hours of recording capability on my system. Which is just wonderful ... and believe me, I will use all of it. Right now I'm limited to 300 hours and I run out of space before I get a chance to view half of it.

Not that I really "view" it in any detail ... about the only show I really have to watch somewhat carefully, is Heroes, and that's because my two favorite characters are always lapsing into Japanese of which I understand precisely 2 words. And, they NEVER use those 2 words.

And ... that's what I'm doing right now.
