Sub books or separate books?

For separate books: (normal) Calibre and the EPUB_Split plugin

Sub books:

I just use a differing TOC level

h2 for the Sub-book titlepage and top level
h3 for chapters

if any of the books also have Parts
h1 for the Sub-book titlepage ant top level
h2 for Part
h3 for chapters
