NiLuJe: How do I do that? I'm sort of uncomfortable running commands that erase anything, as it's not exactly behaving properly, and I'm worried about bricking it even further. I've got one more trick up my sleeve at the moment, and if that doesn't work, I'd appreciate it if you could either tell me (or point me to the posts) which describe what you're wanting me to do, step-by-step.
In the meantime...
I had a lovely surprise this morning when I woke up: my Kindle Touch was in fact booted to diags! I couldn't believe my eyes, and wondered how it had happened... The last thing I can remember doing last night before I went to bed was putting it in fastboot mode and then unplugging it from the computer and sticking it on a wall charger.
I messed around with it for several hours, but could not get the USB networking to work. No RNDIS device showed up in Device Manager, and no amount of *.inf files seemed to help. At some point, I was able to get a drive to show up in Disk Management, but no volume mounted to it. (Also, the "Gas Gauge" in diags showed the battery to be at 23%...). And then, out of curiosity (and desperation for progress), I made the mistake of rebooting it, and it put me right back to square one. Blech.
So, my thoughts for now: I booted Kubrick on another machine (yay for spares) and it's now sitting at the screen where it wants me to turn on USB networking from diags. I then unplugged the Kindle from that machine, brought it back to my Windows XP machine, put it in fastboot, removed it from the Windows XP machine, and am now charging it on the wall charger. With a little luck, whatever made it spontaneously boot into diags overnight will happen again. Maybe from there, I can stick it into Kubrick, and make the USB networking happen. I'll keep you updated on my progress. Wish me luck!
