When I see that sentence in the book description I take it as a signal that the book was sourced from a public domain site such as Project Guthenberg, and that it might be badly formatted and full of mistakes. Obviously, they don't want to say that explicitly, partly because it might offend the many hard-working volunteers who take pains over the quality of the conversion, and partly because it might put off potential customers.
But, I agree, it would be useful if they would give the proper book description as well.
