BTW Martha the squirrel (I've talked about her before:she was real) used to tease both of them, parading under the bay window while they growled in frustration.
Reminds me of one of my favorite squirrel memories. I was taking summer classes at U.T. Austin, living in a split level dorm room. The windows were basically flush with the ground, and the door on the other side of the rooms was above ground. The windows were the old crank kind. There was a squirrel that made the rounds of the rooms, looking for handouts. I would take bit of chocolate cake and wave it right next to the window. Poor squirrel went crazy trying to get thru the glass....... (Even then, I knew squirrels were evil...)
