I tracked with you partly. (the 'that is the best way' part) The rest you semi-lost me. I Googled "script" and "batch file" and "CLI." I'm still not sure what you mean though. Like, I made a desktop icon for Kdiff comparison tool. When I click on the icon it brings up the file (that I have previously downloaded and which is stored in the home directory). What you said it sounds like you're summoning the Calibre file brand new from the terminal. Is this the case?

I was thinking I would do the binary install in the terminal and then the Calibre (and hopefully Calibre-Edit) would be in my Applications menu.
