Thanks guys. I'm losing faith in the Ubuntu Software Center. It's easy but seems to provide inferior stuff. Anyway, what about my plan of action to get the lastest Calibre and Calibre-Edit (and it would be nice to get them separtely, like on my other Ubuntu computer)?

uninstall the Calibre 1.0 using the Ubuntu Software Center's "remove" button and then go here: http://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux and do that first "binary" install.

Sound good or is there a better way of going about it? Thanks.
