While I feel mostly the same when it comes to smartphones, I'm not particularly bothered by it when it comes to the PW2. For one thing, the Paperwhite is fairly inexpensive at $99-119 so it's not exactly a hardship to buy a couple of them in the same year. And the biggest thing, I'm not tied to a 2-year contract and eternal subsidy repayment with the Paperwhite.
