Maybe it could be overcome if calibre had option to not save the current window state on exit, it would need a companion option to force a save as at now, a'la

checkbox : Don't save window state (size, position, monitor) on exit
button : Save current window state (size, position, monitor) as it is now

I would use it even though I don't use a 2nd monitor with calibre. I don't like programs that assume I want to restore the shambles in which I last left it. I know many do, but I'm not one of that many, I'm one of the other many

One of the reasons I like the View PI, it its option to restore a designated view - so the ad-hoc sort I did just before I closed calibre yesterday is where IMO it belongs - in the dustbin of History.
