You are right. I have purchased from Amazon.co.uk before but not kindle books. I just tested and it said I should buy Kindle books from Amazon.com. The rest of the merchandise in Amazon.co.uk is ok, I can buy them.

I can buy from either Amazon.com or Amazon.ca. I'm not sure if Canadians are restricted from buying from Amazon.com, mine was "grandfathered", when I started off, Amazon.ca sells kindle books but not the Kindle device, I bought all my kindle books from Amazon.com.
