My billing address is in Canada and have a Canadian credit card, I can sign-in to Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk to buy books from USA and UK without having to "lie" about my location. The best part about Amazon, despite it is Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, my user id/password for Amazon.ca works on them without the need to create separate user id/password.
Wow, I'm jealous. I can buy physical books that way, but not Kindle books.

When I look at Kindle books in other country sites, instead of the purchase button I see a green box with the following text:
Kindle titles are available for CA customers on Amazon.ca.
Continue shopping on the Kindle Store at Amazon.ca.

(with some slight variations in terminology from country to country)

Wait, do you have an amazon.com account from the days before amazon.ca that you didn't change over? Maybe that makes some sort of difference?? But the UK part still seems unusual.
