My billing address is in Canada and have a Canadian credit card, I can sign-in to Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk to buy books from USA and UK without having to "lie" about my location. The best part about Amazon, despite it is Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, my user id/password for Amazon.ca works on them without the need to create separate user id/password.

Because those are country specific sites. You can buy physical goods from them and have them shipped anywhere, but eBooks with geo-restrictions are restricted to the regions those sites cover. the .com site is different in that it covers everywhere worldwide to at least some extent. That doesn't mean that if you go to the .com site from the UK or Canada, etc. that you can buy every ebook a US buyer can and vice versa. In general the site will only show you titles which are available in your country. If you can go to the .uk site from Canada with a Canadia address and buy ebooks you're luckier than folks in the US. Everyone I know who's managed to buy from there has had to use a UK address in order to do so.
