jackastor, oh, it's not a new computer in that sense -- it's an old Dell laptop. Just putting it into service after having it sitting on the shelf as a backup; the unit is replacing is starting to show signs of a wonky hard drive.
Oh well sorry to hear about your hdd. But if the drive is still functional you may be able to clone things across, and if its only semi functional you may still be able to clone things across by placing it in the fridge while you move the information across. The reason the fridge, keeps the electronics cool enough the failing HDD work longer before locking up and usually allows you enough time to clone/copy all pertinent information across.
