The reason that Amazon have come to dominate the market has little to do with the reader hardware; they've succeeded because they recognise that the reader hardware is just one aspect of the whole book buying "experience". You need a reader which is closely integrated with a great bookstore, and you need good customer service to back it all up. Sony make good hardware, but the other parts of the system are all woefully lacking.
